A Proclamation From The Governor: LOL Day

Office of the Governor of Iowa
Terry Branstad

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

With unprecedented enthusiasm, Iowans have embraced our challenge to become the healthiest state in the nation by 2016. Since it is said that "laughter is the best medicine," we have declared Monday, April 2, as LOL Day in Iowa.

Laughing is one of the best ways to de-stress, and keeping stress to a minimum is an important part of the well-being puzzle. Even if your diet is chock full of grains, fruits and veggies and you exercise every day, if the emotional health piece of the jigsaw is missing, your overall health could be suffering.  You can read more about our state's "rib-tickling" initiative for wellness at the official website iowahealthieststate.com.

In order to aid in this effort, on this day, April 2, Iowa State Troopers will be trading in their usual serious "Smokey the Bear" hats for hilarious multi-colored Afro wigs and bulbous red noses.  Roving teams of these Troopers will be patrolling the streets of Iowa.  Anyone who is caught NOT laughing, chortling, chuckling, giggling, guffawing, snickering, tittering, or in some way exerting their lungs in a mirthful manner will be f*cking shot.

Warmest Regards,

Iowa Governor "Taxin' Terry" Branstad
&
Lt. Governor Terry's Moustache

DC Deputy Mayor: Best Defense Against Crime Is To Get Hurt

According to the Washington Times, a DC resident, whose friends had been victims of violent crime, attended a public meeting and "asked officials why the city makes it so difficult for law-abiding residents to register guns and refuses to allow them to carry weapons outside of the home." The District's "deputy mayor for public safety and justice," Paul Quander, responded that crime victims should just give criminals what they want. The dumbfounded resident protested, “But how do you know you’re going live and survive? You’re completely at their mercy.”

“The problem is, if you are armed, it escalates the situation,” Mr. Quander replied. “It is much better, in my opinion, to be scared, to be frightened, and even if you have to be, to be injured, but to walk away and survive. You’ll heal, and you can replace whatever was taken away.”  You heard it folks, just give murderers, rapists and kidnappers what they want.  It creates much less paperwork for Mr. Quander, thanks.

The head of the D.C. police officer's union called the deputy mayor's comments "disgraceful" and pointed out that Quander "cut 400 police positions and failed to enact tougher laws for repeat offenders. Now we know why. His crime fighting strategy apparently involves giving up and just living with being scared."

It Keeps Going and Going...

There's good news for people like my brother who still spit on the ground when they speak about the U.S. military's conversion to 9mm sidearms.  The Marine Corps new M45 Close Quarter Battle Pistol will be based on the hundred-year-old .45 auto 1911 design.

The new pistol, which will be issued to Force Recon and other special operations Marines, will feature improved accuracy and reliability over general issue M1911s, as well a rail for mounting sights, lights, lasers, disco balls or whatever.  The decision on the winning manufacturer's design is expected this spring.

Eric Holder:  We should "brainwash" people about guns

Breitbart.com has uncovered video from 1995 of then-U.S. Attorney Eric Holder announcing a public campaign to "really brainwash people into thinking about guns in a vastly different way."
