Gun Nut Roundup May 2011

Bill Would Allow Carry On Army Corps Land

Although it became legal to carry firearms in national parks last year (in compliance with state law), certain types of federal lands weren't addressed.  One of these was the land owned by the Army Corps of Engineers.  Congressman Bob Gibbs (R-OH) introduced HR 1865, the Recreational Lands Self-Defense Act to close that loophole.

Said Gibbs: “The Recreational Lands Self-Defense Act is a bipartisan effort that seeks to correct this oversight and restore Second Amendment rights to law-abiding citizens while they are legally camping, hunting, and fishing on the 11.7 million acres of Army Corps recreational property.  As we enter the summer season, families and sportsmen taking advantage of this federal land should not have to worry that their legally-obtained concealed weapon permit is invalid.”

Gun Banners Keep Trying "Terror Watchlist" Scheme

According to NRA-ILA:  "[T]he U.S. House Judiciary Committee rejected an amendment by Rep. Mike Quigley (D-Ill.), which proposed to allow the Attorney General to disapprove the NICS check of a person who has been placed on the FBI's secret 'terrorist watchlist.'  Similar legislation has been introduced by Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-N.J.) and Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.)."

As most of you know, this would allow unknown federal officials to deny Americans a Constitutional right for unknown reasons with no due process or appeal.

Anti-Gun Obama Nominee Goes Down In Flames

The Senate recently rejected Obama's pick for a seat on the 9th Circus Court of Appeals, uber-liberal UC Berkley law professor Goodwin Liu, on a 52-43 vote.

In one of his screeds Liu wrote, "Applications of constitutional text and principles must be open to adaptation and change... as the conditions and norms of our society become ever more distant from those of the Founding generation."  He also criticized the Supreme Court for declaring the Brady Law's unfunded mandate and the Gun-Free School Zones Act as unconstitutional.

Goodbye and good riddance, Goodwin!

USDA OUT OF CONTROL

I can't even make jokes about this one. The USDA is attacking a Missouri family for raising rabbits! The Federal government is completely out of control in so many ways it's not even funny. This shit has got to stop. Here's the article in full.

(NaturalNews) When the Dollarhite family of Nixa, Mo., first started raising and selling bunnies as part of a lesson to teach their teenage son about responsibility and hard work, they had no idea they would eventually meet the heavy hand of the US Department of Agriculture (USDA). According to a recent article covered in Breitbart's Big Government, the USDA recently ordered the Dollarhite family to pay more than $90,000 in fines because they sold more than $500 worth of rabbits in a year -- and if they fail to pay the fine by Monday, May 23, the fine will multiply to nearly $4 million.

It all started back in 2006 when John Dollarhite and his wife Judy rescued two rabbits that ended up breeding. The family cared for and raised the new rabbits, and eventually began to sell them to neighbors, friends, and others for $10 or $15 each. Having started by first selling the animals for meat, and later for show, the Dollarhites carefully and humanely raised the small creatures on their three-acre homestead, all while teaching their son honest values in a business environment similar to running a small lemonade stand.

Eventually, the Dollarhites developed such a highly-respected reputation across Missouri that the popular Branson, Mo., theme park Silver Dollar City, and even a local pet store, Petland, began purchasing bunnies from the family in 2009. And according to John, individuals from both Silver Dollar City and Petland, as well as a rabbit competition judge, told him that the family's bunnies were among the best they had ever seen -- healthy, beautiful, and very well-cared for.

All seemed well until a USDA inspector showed up at the family's home in the fall of 2009, and asked to do a "spot inspection" of the rabbitry. The inspector made no indication that anything was amiss, but only that she wished to see the facility. After meandering the premises, the inspector claimed that a few very insignificant aspects of theraising facility were in violation of USDA standards, even though the Dollarhites were not USDA certified, nor were they required to be. She then asked if the Dollarhites wished to be part of the voluntary USDA certification system, upon which they told her they would look into it.

After the inspector left, the Dollarhites heard nothing more from the USDA until January 2010 when a Kansas City-based USDA inspector called the family and said he needed to have a meeting with them because they sold more than $500 worth of rabbits in a single year. When the Dollarhites asked why this was a problem and what law this violated, the man refused to offer an explanation over the phone.

Upon meeting in person, the inspector said he was only there to investigate the rabbitry and take notes for a report, upon which he instructed the family to contact another USDA office if they failed to hear anything further from the USDA after six weeks. As the eighth week arrived without any communication, John called the office and was redirected to the Washington, DC, office where a lady shockingly and bluntly explained to him that she had his report, and that the USDA planned to prosecute him and his family "to the maximum that we can" in order to "make an example" out of him.

Shortly thereafter, the Dollarhites received a letter from the USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) ordering them to pay a fine of $90,643 for supposedly violating a mystery law that prohibits the selling of more then $500 in rabbits within a year, even though the Dollarhites were in full accordance with Missouri state law, did not sell their rabbits across state lines, and raised their rabbits humanely and in excess of minimum requirements. The letter outlined that the Dollarhites had until May 23 to pay the exorbitant fine, or else face additional fines totaling nearly $4 million -- all for selling about $4,600 worth of rabbits that netted the family a mere $200 in profits.

The whole scenario proves, once again, that the USDA is nothing more than a tag-team terrorist duo with the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Both agencies' insatiable lust for power and control over private affairs is never satisfied, as they continue to prowl around like bloodthirsty predators seeking whoever and whatever they can devour. When will Americans finally stand up to their tyranny and say enough is enough?

JUST THE (GOVERNMENT-APPROVED) FACTS, MA'AM

DISCLAIMER: WARNING! The following has been labeled "bad information" by a host of government bureaucrats and tenured professors, none of whom has ever done an honest day's work in his or her life. Read at your own risk.

I saw THIS over at Jim’s place and couldn’t get it off my mind. The supercilious lil’ lady, a Yalie, wrote this piece regarding the idiotic unwashed mouth-breathing peasants out here in the real world getting “bad information” from the Internet. Bad information is that which does not support the hoax de jour, global warning. Her smug premise is that ONLY government and educational institutions (same thing here in the US) can give RELIABLE and TRUE information and that Goggle searches should be directed there to keep the proletariat safe from getting “bad information” from those mean old crazy wacko global warming skeptics out there, such as myself.

As usual, there’s the ever-present “peer-reviewed” Holy Grail mentioned repeatedly as if such review is utterly infallible. "Peer-reviewed", for those of you who might not know, actually works out to be something along the lines of one yes-man telling another yes-man, “Yes.”

Take, for instance, the fairly recent case of (now former) Emory professor Michael A. Bellesiles’ much ballyhooed book Arming America: The Origins of a National Gun Culture. Mikie’s “peers” just reviewed the living hell out of this book, praising it to the heavens, just because he said what they said. In all this exhaustive and meticulous “peer reviewing”, not one of the peer historians ever thought to maybe look up one or two of Mike’s footnotes, which turned out to be a bunch of bullshit he just made up to back his claims.

So I thought we should take a trip down memory lane and see some of these ironclad irrefutable “truths” we’ve been told to believe by the above-mentioned "Truth Monopolies" over the years. And this is the really short list.

Here’s a prediction from 1988 by a climate “scientist” regarding what New York would be like in 20 years if we evil American consumers did not change our way: “West Side Highway [which runs along the Hudson River] will be under water. And there will be tape across the windows across the street because of high winds. And the same birds won’t be there. The trees in the median strip will change.” He is currently lending such expertise to the global warming debate.

Then there were Stanford professor Paul Ehrlich (a recipient of something called a “genius grant”) and his educated predictions of the “future”. Such as…smog disasters will kill almost a quarter of a million people in LA and New York in 1973, the oceans will be devoid of marine life by 1979 and by 1980 life expectancy in the US will drop to 42 years of age. The President will dissolve Congress during the food riots of the 1980’s, the rest of the world will nuke us to keep our poisoned food from “getting” them, and our population will dwindle to less than 27 million by 1999.

Just to keep this from exceeding bandwith, I will just toss in an abbreviated list of the unimpeachable and all-encompassing truths those pillars of integrity that infest the capital and the ivory towers have foisted upon us.

The income tax will never go above 6 percent.

Social Security will always be our safety-net, and the tax will be only 2 percent.

The Drug War will reduce drug usage and crime in America.

“I’m from the government and I’m here to help you.”

Federal aid to education will never result in the federal control of education.

The Warren Report

The PATRIOT Act will only be used against terrorists.

The War on Poverty will reduce poverty in America.

Republicans will always try to reduce the size of government.

Campaign finance reform will end corruption in politics.

Gun-control laws will keep guns away from criminals.

YOUR HOME AIN'T YOUR CASTLE ANYMORE

Do you remember that old Sesame Street game and song about "which one of these things is not like the others"? I'm talking the old-school Sesame Street here, in those long gone days before Bert and Ernie were openly gay, Oscar the Grouch was bludgeoned by Teamster thugs for crossing the picket line during a garbage strike and the Count was indicted on charges of running a Ponzi scheme that was in direct competition with Social Security. If you don't remember, I'll remind you in the immortal words of that great orator of our time, the Cookie Monster.

"One of these things is not like the other things, One of these things just doesn't belong; Can you guess which thing is not like the other things, Before I finish my song."

Now, singing that song in your head and looking at the things below, see if you can guess which one of the things listed below is "not like the other things". If you win, you get a cookie.

"If the thief is caught while breaking in and is struck so that he dies, there will be no bloodguiltiness on his account."

Exodus 22:2

"When a strong man armed keepeth his palace, his goods are in peace."

Luke 11:21

"quid enim sanctius, quid omni religione munitius, quam domus unusquisque civium?" "What more sacred, what more strongly fuarded by every holy feeling, than a man's own home?"

Marcus Tullius Cicero

"The poorest man may in his cottage bid defiance to all the forces of the Crown. It may be frail, its roof may shake; the wind may blow through it; the storm may enter, the main may enter--but the King of England cannot enter; all his forces dares not cross the threshold of the ruined tenement!"

William Pitt

"A man's home is his castle, and God's law, as well as man's, sets a guard upon it; he that assaults it does so at his peril."

Matthew Henry

"A man's house is his castle...and where shall a man be safe if it be not in his own house?"

Sir Edward Coke

"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probably cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."

Fourth Amendment, United States Consitution

"We believe...a right to resist an unlawful police entry into a home is against public policy and is compatible with modern Fourth Amendment jurisprudence. We also find that allowing resistance unnecessarily escalates the level of violence and therefor the risk of injuries to all parties involved without preventing the arrest...

"In sum, we hold that [in] Indiana the right to reasonably resist an unlawful police entry into a home is no longer recognized under Indiana law."

NEW OBAMA ACTION FIGURE

Obama SEAL doll marks bin Laden killing

Well, OF COURSE I had to rush right out and buy one of these Obama action figures before Chris Matthews snapped them all up. It was a real bargain too, at only $39,999,999.95, or roughly 23 Chinese Yuan. Let me tell you, technology in kids’ toys has sure come a long way since I had my old GI Joe with the cloth clothing, plastic foot locker and realistic M1 Garand rifle. The new high-tech features and accessories of the Obama SEAL doll are just incredible. Below is just a partial list of them.

Features:

WHY POLITICIANS RELY ON AMERICANS HAVING SHORT ATTENTION SPANS

Here’s Nancy Pelosi from a press conference on September 7, 2006:

[E]ven if [Osama bin Laden] is caught tomorrow, it is five years too late. He has done more damage the longer he has been out there. But, in fact, the damage that he has done . . . is done. And even to capture him now I don’t think makes us any safer.

And here’s Nancy Pelosi yesterday:

The death of Osama bin Laden marks the most significant development in our fight against al-Qaida. . . . I salute President Obama, his national security team, Director Panetta, our men and women in the intelligence community and military, and other nations who supported this effort for their leadership in achieving this major accomplishment. . . . [T]he death of Osama bin Laden is historic. . . .

YOU'LL HAVE TO PROVIDE YOUR OWN CAPTION FOR THIS ONE

THE BEARDED MENACE: THOSE AMISH ARE AT IT AGAIN

According to FBI statistics as per 2009, in one year in these United States, there are 1,318,398 crimes of violence, 15,241 murders, 89,000 rapes, 408,217 assaults and 794,616 cars stolen. Using statistics other than fed.gov’s fiction, there are around 40 million illegal aliens in the country costing the taxpayer around 8 billion a year on illegals for law enforcement, welfare, education and medical. As a nation, we are over 14 trillion in debt, and Chinese children can play Monopoly using real U.S. currency. Even some of the lamestream media grudgingly admit the real unemployment rate is more like 17.3%, although even that is probably low.

Yet the ruling class in the District of Criminals shriek that there is absolutely no fat to be cut from the budget.

So what are we getting for our money? Not to worry, folks. The government is watching out for our best interests and working hard to protect us. For instance, we find this little tidbit from The Washington Times.

"A yearlong sting operation, including aliases, a 5 a.m. surprise inspection and surreptitious purchases from an Amish farm in Pennsylvania, culminated in the federal government announcing this week that it has gone to court to stop Rainbow Acres Farm from selling its contraband to willing customers in the Washington area.

The product in question: unpasteurized milk."

Don’t they have any other crimes to investigate and prosecute with year-long stings and undercover agents? You know, real crimes, ones with victims.

Of course not. Just who the hell do you think you are, anyway? What gives you the right to put what you want into your own body, including a product humans have been consuming for thousands of years? Actung! The Nanny States knows better, you peasant.

"It is the FDA’s position that raw milk should never be consumed,” said Tamara N. Ward, spokeswoman for the FDA.

So rest easy, fellow serfs. They’re here from the government and they’re here to help us. Whether we want it or not.
