Hypocritical Buttmunch Decries Militarized Police

“[T]he scenes that we saw in Ferguson, Missouri, this past week, with a militarized police force facing down innocent protesters with sniper rifles and machine guns is totally unacceptable in America." So said U.S. Represenatative Wm. Lacy Clay Jr. (D) Missouri, who represents Ferguson, Missouri.

After the events in Ferguson, Rep. Clay and Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D), Missouri, met with Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel to discuss the "1033 program" which gives federal military equipment to local police. In his words: "The discussion allowed us to share our objections, and those of our constituents, who are seeking a vigorous review of the existing 1033 program and some important changes to ensure public safety and the preservation of fundamental constitutional rights.


"That includes the right to assemble and peacefully protest without the unacceptable threat of an overbearing police response which targets law-abiding citizens with military weapons and technology."


He also hoped "that this effort will spur a national discussion about how to achieve a fundamental shift in local law enforcement, away from military-style responses, and towards a more community-based policy.”


Rep. Clay certainly sounds passionately in opposition of arming local police with military weapons. Yet in June this conniving little weasel voted against an amendment that would have prohibited the transfer of certain military surplus items to police.


According to reason.com: "In June, the House of Representatives voted on a series of amendments to H.R. 4435, the National Defense Authorization Act.  Among the amendments was one by Rep. Alan Grayson (D-Fla.) which would’ve prohibited funds from being used to transfer certain kinds of military surplus to local police departments. The amendment failed by a wide margin, with only 62 votes for and 355 against.


"House leadership on both sides also voted against it, including Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), Steny Hoyer (D-Md.), Eric Cantor (R-Va.), and Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.)"


Of the 41 voting members of the House Black Caucus (many of whom are now decrying police militarization) only 7 voted for the Grayson amendment.


None of this is meant to defend the federal government's giveaway program. (It's unconstitutional, like most of what they do. Besides, if they want to give away MRAP's and grenade launchers, give me and Bawb some!) It's just meant to point out that Congresscritters like Lacy Clay are two-faced creeps. I'm sure he'll be reelected handily.

To combat rampant political corruption, some Russians are proposing to go Old School...scratch that...go Medieval on the crooked SOB's. They would like to BRAND the hands of politicians caught doing dirt deeds.

Sounds good to me, although I would gladly settle for tar and feathers. I'll bet billions of dollars of unaccounted for public money would suddenly re-appear, maybe even enough to pay off the national debt.

I don't necessarily agree with or advocate anything this guy is saying, but I sure love to hear him talk.

Primary Voters to D.C. Establishment: "Up yours!"

"I have a message, a message from the tea party, a message that is loud and clear and does not mince words. We've come to take our government back." So said newly-nominated Republican Senate candidate Rand Paul of Kentucky. Once thought to be a longshot, Paul easily defeated Trey Grayson, the Republican contender favored by the party power structure, by a 59 to 35% margin.

Grayson was endorsed by the Republican Nat'l Committee (RNC) and a veritable who's who of statist, neo-con Republicans like Senator Mitch McConnell, Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, Former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum, and Former Vice President Dick Cheney. Grayson was clearly the candidate that the party power brokers wanted.

Rand Paul was endorsed by his dad Congressman Ron Paul, Sarah Palin, Gun Owners of America and, most importantly, the Republican primary voters of Kentucky. Paul's victory will send a shock wave through the GOP's entrenched circles of power, who nearly always back moderate RINO's over small government candidates like Paul.

In Pennsylvania, Democrat primary voters fired a shot across the bow of their own party's establishment elitists. Pennsylvania voters ousted their incumbent Senator, RINO-turned-turncoat-bastard Arlen Specter. Specter had switched his party to Democrat a year ago. Since he was already a five-term incumbent, the Democrat power structure quickly rallied around him. He was endorsed by no less than President Obama.

The man who beat Specter for the Democrat nomination, two-term Representative Joe Sestak, gave a victory speech that could have just as easily been given by the Republican Paul. "This is what democracy looks like," said Sestak. "A win for the people, over the establishment, over the status quo, even over Washington, D.C."

Well said. Watch your ass, Washington!

"The Messiah" To Heal The Sick; Make The Crippled Walk

For about the last eight years the liberal media has presented us with a morality play better than that of any found in mythology. In this rendition, an evil king, King George, has been personally holding handicapped people down in their wheelchairs by withholding federal funds from stem cell research. But now a handsome young prince has vanquished the evil king and promises to free the medically oppressed from the wicked king’s spell.

For the millions of Americans who bought into this narrative, it stands to reason that all it should take now is a mere scribble from the new god-king’s mighty pen and the paralyzed will leap from their wheelchairs and the comatose will pull out their feeding tubes and dance a jig.

Lest you think I exaggerate the expectation levels, consider the words of Roman Reed, a stem cell research advocate, himself confined to a wheelchair. At the ceremony where President Obama signed the executive order reversing Bush’s ban on federal funding of stem cell research, Reed stated, "Under President John F. Kennedy, we were the first to walk on the moon. Under President Obama we'll be the first to walk on Earth."

As someone who is watching a loved one slowly succumb to an incurable and fatal brain disease, I understand this hope for the miracle, for that magic bullet, that medical research may bring. But the Democrats have sold a story to people that the magic bullet ALREADY exists, that Bush has been callously hoarding it in his breast pocket like a deranged Barney Fife. They have raised many people’s hopes too high, all to pick up a few votes. Shame on them!

The whole sorted affair shows why there should be a separation of scientific research and state. By rights, there should already be such a separation, as the Constitution gives the federal government NO authority over medical research. Stem cell research should have been neither Bush’s nor Obama’s call.

As the government expands its control over health care, we can expect more and more medical issues to become objects of this tug-of-war and the ill to become pawns in the political game between the two parties as they seek wedges issues to gain votes.

Is stem cell research immoral? I’m pro-life, but yet I don’t know if it is or not. The whole issue is so shot through with partisan maneuvering that it’s hard to separate fact from crap, and I don‘t have the energy. But I do know that it is immoral to promise the ill that they could be well, if only the right party was in power, just to gain votes. I hope that the Democrats get burned when the people realize that the messiah that was sold to them is a false one.

Those of us who never have believed in "Him" must assume that the people will come to their senses eventually. They have to or all is lost. In the mean time, we can console ourselves with the words of Thomas Jefferson. In the dark days of 1798, after the passage of the tyrannical Alien and Sedition Acts, he wrote:

"A little patience, and we shall see the reign of witches pass over, their spells dissolve, and the people, recovering their true sight, restore their government to its true principles. It is true that in the meantime we are suffering deeply in spirit, and incurring the horrors of a war and long oppressions of enormous public debt. If the game runs sometimes against us at home we must have patience till luck turns, and then we shall have an opportunity of winning back the principles we have lost, for this is a game where principles are at stake.”
