Freedom of Speech

Here at Das Blog, we have been consistent in the defense of the First Amendment, as well as that pesky Second Amendment.

I do have to admit, recently I have thoroughly enjoyed blue-haired, tattooed, and nose-ringed (what’s up with that anyway? We used to do that to hogs to keep them from rooting up the yard) gender-questionable libtards shrieking, wailing, and gnashing their teeth over getting fired merely for saying, “Charlie Kirk deserved to die, the fascist, Nazi, racist, homophobic hate-filled mofo. And kill his wife, too, so the kids can be sent to a proper re-education gulag.”

As Charlie himself said, there is no Constitutional exemption for “hate speech” no matter how odious it might be. The New York Times, of course, which celebrated “Cancel Culture” in 2020, now says that it’s evil, but that’s par for the course.

Back in the day, the libtards in politics, media, and the very unwashed masses, gleefully celebrated and rejoiced over squelching free speech if it was deemed “hate speech”. For instance, I might say, “I don’t support Obama’s failed socialist economic policies.” The immediate rejoinder was, “You are a racist, homophobic bigot right-wing extremist militia religious zealot hate-monger! Die, scum!” Which is pretty much the same response you get from them today. For the looney left, “hate speech” was defined as any speech they did not personally agree with and their debating skills consist(ed) of frothing-at-the-mouth name-calling to stifle any rational debate. Which is pretty much where it remains.

Well, assholes, be careful what you wish for. When you gleefully celebrate the suppression of free speech when your guy is in power, take a moment to think and reflect what might happen when your enemy comes to power.

Before Al Gore invented the Internet and the odious edifice of social media gained so much traction, the libtards and the mainstream media (but I repeat myself) had it all their own way. Their narrative was the only available narrative, and they could beat the living hell out of that dead horse whenever they chose.

For instance, every single shooting was instantly and relentlessly blamed upon “hate-filled rhetoric” by “right-wing talk radio.” Politicians, “journalists”, activists, college professors, and the run-of-the-mill Commie moonbats on the street could quote the Southern Poverty Law Center when they decreed, “Our exhaustive research, which involved asking a couple of our interns if they knew of any Nazis, reveals that 98% of all crime is committed by white right-wing extremist militia members which, according to our studies, compose anywhere from 0.0001% to 99.2% of the American population.”

For the last couple of decades I have been frustrated by trying to learn more about an alleged news story. When I read an interesting story, I’d Google it and try to find more information. I did not. I found the exact same Democrat press release repeated verbatim in a hundred newspapers across the country, and not a single “journalist” questioned or researched whatever bilk was regurgitated in the original press release.

Now, with Internet coverage, it has become increasingly difficult for the libtards to scream, for instance, that a mentally deranged far Left-wing trans/furry shooter raging against MAGA and the Orange Man and painting anti-Trump propaganda on its weapon was somehow a “right-wing extremist”.

What’s particularly ironic is that since Obama….and especially since Trump ran the first time, the Left-wing kooks in politics, media, education, and the streets have all been screeching the most hate-filled, violence-inciting rhetoric imaginable for a couple of decades. Mainstream Demoncrat leaders like Pelosi and Kalifornistan’s Newscum and their ilk, in fact, openly scream for violence in the streets against conservatives.

They do not even value human life; just ask one of millions of average aborted fetuses. Now, if you dare to even think about disagreeing with their narrative, you deserve to be killed. Even if you’re just a white Ukrainian refugee on a train.

Between Democratic politicians, the lamestream media, and our “education” system, these Far Left tards are indoctrinated like sheep. They have never actually listened to two minutes of Rush Limbaugh or Charlie Kirk speaking, but from their handlers they “know” such people are racist, fascist, homophobic Nazis and, as such, they deserve to die.

I can’t say I’m surprised that the Kirk shooter was “radicalized” in college. Even way back in my day, when pterodactyls ruled the skies, I had a professor teaching American Colonial History who was a left-wing moonbat and the synopsis of his entire course was, “America is evil. We enslaved blacks and destroyed the environment.” This horse’s ass ran off to Red China for six years to evade the Vietnam draft but, as he told us, Mao Tse-Tung’s “excesses” eventually led him to a renewed appreciate of the United States and he returned here. I have no doubt that this reawakening occurred simultaneously with the last plane out of Saigon.

I felt really bad for a fellow classmate, an old Iowa farm wife who had always dreamed of going to college and did so at the age of 70 when her husband passed away. During one of the professor’s many condescending anti-American, pro-Socialist diatribes, she stood up, slammed her books down on the desk, and shouted, “You’re nothing but a Goddamn Communist!” She stormed out and quit the university altogether. When she did so, the prof just tittered like a little school girl to the rest of us and chortled dismissively, “That’s not the first time I’ve heard that.”

I had my own run-in with him. He failed every single member of the class for our first essay, and all students had to have a personal meeting with him. In my essay, I had refuted many of his arguments simply by quoting from the very texts which he had assigned us. In our meeting, I offered the opinion that he was teaching his students not to question, analyze or think for themselves but only forced them to repeat the Party Line back to him. “I can teach a parrot to repeat my own words back to me,” I summarized. “That doesn’t mean it’s educated.”

He knew I was an Army Gulf War veteran and shouted at me that I was hopeless and could not be redeemed because the military had “brain-washed” me so thoroughly. Pot, meet the kettle.

I wasn’t even a follower of Charlie Kirk or Turning Point. I had chuckled at a couple of his videos where he “debated” college libtards. You know, when they shrieked he was a fascist until he asked them what the definition of fascism actually was.

So, even though I find it pretty humorous when moonbats today lose their jobs for spewing the vilest hate-filled violent rhetoric imaginable, I still think they have a First Amendment right to demonstrate just how disgusting they are.

I just wish they were not emboldened by the anonymity to the Internet to hide behind. I wish they would spew their venom right to my face. From the videos I’ve seen, there isn’t one of them I couldn’t take down and pound sand up its ass with one hand tied behind my back.

But the fact remains that they still have a Constitutional right to say that they are Commie assholes.

Because we are a Constitutional Republic…not a fucking Democracy. Technically, North Korea is a Democracy. Perhaps they should go there and see how free they are.

The tragic Minnesota Trans multiple school shooting by a drugged-out trans shooter just happened to remind me that not a single Democrat stridently called for gun control measures when Trump was shot.

ATTN HUNTERS AND FISHERMEN; EXACTLY HOW FISH & GAME WORKS

Original author unknown, but this is truly epic.

A State Department of Fish and Wildlife sends a letter to a home/landowner asking for permission to access a creek on his property to document the decline in a certain species of unheard of frogs.

The property owners' response in the second letter is EPIC.

Letter from Dept. Of Fish & Wildlife:

Dear Landowner:

WDFWR Staff will be conducting surveys for foothill yellow-legged frogs & other amphibians over the next few months. As part of this research we would like to survey the creek on your property. I am writing this letter to request your permission to access your property.

Recent research indicates that foothill yellow-legged frogs have declined significantly in recent years and are no longer found at half their historic sites. Your cooperation will be greatly appreciated and will help contribute to the conservation of this important species.

Please fill out the attached postage-paid postcard and let us know if you are willing to let us cross your property or not.

If you have any concerns about this project please give us a call. We would love to talk with you about our research.

Sincerely

Steve Nemel

FOR REAL BACK COUNTRY USE, THE KAWASAKI TERYX SUX

I had the great misfortune to buy a brand-new 2023 Kawasaki Teryx 5 two-seater with the 800 V-2. It was one of those deals where I talked my ex-wife into getting a UTV on the condition that she would get to do the research and choose the model. Instead of a four-seater, she also chose the cargo dump box. If you plan to use it as a dump truck, it holds slightly less than the standard wheel barrow. To paraphrase my dear old Dad, “I’d rather have the clap than a Kawasaki Teryx; at least you can get rid of the clap.”

I’ve got less than 250 miles on mine on Montana Forest Service roads, the vast majority of those miles on “good” roads, and I don’t trust the damn thing further than I can throw it. The second time I trailered it, the left cargo compartment side panel, held on with only a little butterfly clasp, went flying off as we were driving down the road. Fortunately, I’m an old truck driver who watches his mirrors, saw it fly off, and was able to recover it.

Even in normal operation on gravel roads you could drive with a passenger car it is hot and noisy and stinky. So noisy, in fact, that even I, an old tanker with considerable hearing damage already, find it uncomfortable to drive without wearing protective ear muffs. My dog can’t even comfortably ride along whining in pain from the sheer volume of the thing. The heat of the engine, essentially under the front of the cab, puts out one hell of a lot of heat, most of it right into the cab along with the noise. On the two occasions I actually took it on rough, back-country roads I was not impressed. Even thought I took it slow and easy and carefully negotiated obstacles, I managed to hit the undercarriage repeatedly and bottom out the suspension. Granted, the road in question was the USFS Boulder River Road into the heart of the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness, which hasn’t seen maintenance in thirty years or so and is, in many places, a talus or scree slope, but supposedly these pieces of shit are built for “extreme” back-country roads. Hell, I used to take my 2000 F-150 pickup truck up that road, in granny low 4x4 admittedly, but it handled it better than the Teryx ever did.

I don’t use the thing very often, mainly during hunting season, and my main bitch is that you have to use the damn thing CONSTANTLY, as in essentially every day, to avoid electrical problems. If you take an overly long lunch, the battery dies on you. I go out on back-country wilderness hunts for a week or even ten days at a time, and coming back to the Teryx after that long becomes one hell of a gamble.

From the owner’s manual: “If your vehicle is only used occasionally or for short periods of time, the battery is more likely to discharge.”

“Due to their internal composition, batteries continually self-discharge. The discharge rate depends on the type of battery and ambient temperature. As temperatures rise, so does the discharge rate.”

“Electrical accessories, such as digital clocks and computer memory, also draw current from the battery even when the key is switched off. Combine such ‘key-off’ draws with hot temperature, and a battery can go from fully charged to completely discharged in a matter of days.”

“In extremely cold weather the fluid in an inadequately charged battery can easily freeze, which can crack the case and buckle the plates.”

“It is the owner’s responsibility to keep the battery fully charged. Failure to do so can lead to battery failure and leave you stranded.”

Thank God I bought a rechargeable emergency charger, because it did just that. And, of course, with the automatic tranny, you can’t push or roll start it either when it dies on you

“If you will not be using your vehicle for longer than two weeks, the battery should be charged.” “…inspect the battery weekly using a voltmeter. If it drops below 12.6 volts, the battery should be charged using an appropriate charger.”

“Appropriate” means that you have to buy a special charger; you can’t use a standard automotive battery charger. Not that you can use either 40 miles from the nearest electrical outlet.

If all that isn’t a big enough pain in the ass, to charge the battery you must “Remove the battery from the vehicle.”

Herein lies even more the rub. Removing the battery from the vehicle is an engineer’s wet dream and a mechanic’s nightmare. To make it even do-able requires you to remove the front left wheel. Even then, the fiddly little tiny bolts, nuts, and sleeves holding the battery in place require three hands and six thumbs, two and four of which, respectively, must be hands and thumbs the size of a six-year-old’s.

I guess the Teryx would be okay if you just want a little toy to fart around the back 40 every single day. If you want a rugged off-road vehicle to get you back into the wilderness for extended big game hunts, forget it.

I was better off when I had pack goats for back-country hunting than I was with a Teryx.
